Many people sim* regard Pride and Prejudice as a love story, but in my opinion, this book is an illustration of the society at that time. She perfectly reflected the relation between money and marriage at her time and gave the people in her works vivid characters.

The characters have their own personalities. Mrs. Bennet is a woman who makes great efforts to marry off her daughters. Mr. Bingley is a friendly young man, but his friend, Mr. Darcy, is a very proud man who seems to always feel superior. Even the five daughters in Bennet family are very different. Jane is simple, innocent and never speaks evil of others. Elizabeth is a clever girl who always has her own opinion. Mary likes reading classic books. (Actually she is a pedant.) Kitty doesnt have her own opinion but likes to follow her sister, Lydia. Lydia is a girl who follows exotic things, handsome man, and is somehow a little profligate. When I read the book, I can always find the same personalities in the society now. That is why I think this book is indeed the representative of the society in Britain in the 18th century.

The family of gentleman in the countryside is Jane Austens favourite topic. But this little topic can reflect big problems. It concludes the stratum situation and economic relationships in Britain in her century. You can find these from the very beginning of this book.

The first sentence in this book is impressive. It reads: “It is a truth well known to all the world that an unmarried man in possession of a large fortune must be in need of a wife”. The undertone is very clear: the foundation of the marriage at that time is not emotion but possession.

People always think that Austen was an expert at telling love stories. In fact, the marriage in her book is not the result of love, but the result of economic needs. After reading this book, I know the truth is that a poor woman must be in need of a husband, a wealthy man.

I couldnt forget how eager Mrs. Bennet wants to marry off her daughters. If you want to know why she is so crazy about these things, I must mention the situation in Britain at that time. Only the eldest son had the privilege of inheriting his fathers possessions. Younger sons and daughters who are used to luxurious lives have no choice but marry a man or woman in possession of a large fortune to continue their comfortable lives. Thus, we can see that getting married is a way to become wealthier, particularly for women without many possessions. Jane Austen told us that money and possession determined everything, including marriage and love in her century.

In “Pride and Prejudice”, the sister of Mr. Bingley strongly opposed his plan of marrying Jane because the Bennets dont have many possessions and their social positions are much lower than them. From this, we can see there are a lot of obstacles for a not very rich woman to marry a wealthy husband. The society, the relatives would not allow them to get married.

In modern society, although the marriages of economic needs have decreased rapidly, the concept of “money determines everything” is still rooted in some peoples mind. A lot of parents try hard to interfere their childrens marriages. Education background, possessions, jobs remains the main reason that may influence ones marriage. Marry for money is still a big problem in our society. We cant help thinking: can money determine everything?

Austen left this problem for us to think. The genius of Jane Austen lies in this perfect simplicity, the simplicity that reflects big problems. Although Austen was only 21 when she wrote “Pride and Prejudice”, her sharp observation of social lives makes the style of this book surprisingly mature and lively. The plots in her works are always very natural. The development of the plot is as inevitable as a problem in mathematics. I think the depth of Pride and Prejudice is the reason that makes this book prominent and classic. Today, her book still can be the guide telling us the economic relationships both at her time and in modern time.

The view of Pride and Prejudice

Pride and Prejudice is my favorite novel, which impresses me for a long time. It describes a love story mainly between Elisabeth, who I like the best, and a rich and proud man, Darcy.

The story began with the arrival of a crowd of rich men who rent a house near the Bennet. In a ball, Elisabeth gave such a bad impression on Darcys first pride that she refused Darcys first proposal. Darcy was so surprised by Elisabeths refusal that he loved Elisabeth more dee*. And Elisabeths antipathy made Darcy realize his shortcomings. He was not angry about Elisabeths censure, but also he changed his previous proud attitude. During Elisabeths travel in Darcys manor. Darcy was very nice to her uncle and aunt, different from previous proud attitude. When one of Elisabeths sisters ran away with Wickham, Darcy helped Elisabeth find her sister and prevent her sister from the loss of reputation, with nobody knowing that it was he who helped the Bennet. So many changes in Darcy eliminated Elisabeths prejudice. At last it end with their marriage.

Taking the daily life as its material, this story reflected the life and love in a conservative and blocking England town. It reflected the authors view about marriage that it is fault to marry for property, money and status and it is also foolish to take these elements into account. In fact Darcys pride manifested the gap between their statuses(地位). Since his pride existed, there is no ideal marriage between Elisabeth and Darcy. From the different attitudes from Darcys two proposals, it reflected the feminine pursuit of personality independence and right equality, which is a progressive character from the image of Elisabeth.

After a terms reading, I finished ten more books, however, what impressed me most is Jane Austen and her two classical books.

In China maybe we all know LiQingzhao, a great female poet whose poetry are full of the emotionsfromthe bottom of her heart. However, in England the figure maybe is my most admirable authoress Miss Austen who can never have too many respectsfromthe common people just like me. After read her two masterpieces of books Pride and Prejudice and Sense and Sensibility, I feel so proud of being female to see a world-famous authoress using her independent thoughts, humor words to show us the relationship between the so-called superiors and the lower-class.

At that time, neither in the east nor in the west, it is not so easy for a woman to become a great figure with literary reputation. In China Li made it, while in England Miss Austen with her unique characteristic also realized her dream after a long struggle with the temporal points. It seems that all in Janes life, she made a decision between sense and sensibility; once there was an old saying “Affection is desirable, money is absolutely indispensable.” She resolutely chose her true love but not a splendid life or a comfortable home, what a pity she can not marry the one she did not really love even a beloved one, in her short life, she finished six famous books with her heart and soul but never married and stayed single for ever.

When reading Pride and Prejudice, I wondered why the oldest sister in the Bennet family also was named Jane, is there any possibility Jane Bennet is the soul of Miss Austen; and Miss Austen expected to realize all the pity which can not come true in her real life, so Jane Bennet was pictured as prefect as possible to be the best of the five sisters.

Its a classical book with abundant description of everyones inner heart, especially the changes in their hearts. It can never deserve too many *yses for it was so wonderfully worked. One can say anything but ordinary to show our respects and admiration.

The man said“I do not have that talent of conversing easily with people I have never met before.” The woman said“We all dont know him.” The book is full of the mans pride and the womans prejudice in its lines and words.

From his pride we can see his confidence and persistence; whereasfromhis pride we cant see his kindness and gentleness which he hid behind the surface.

From her prejudice we can see her firmness and treason; whereasfromher prejudice we cant see her expectation and worries which she hid behind the surface.

So it gave us a beginning of the story of pride and prejudice and led us to Miss Austens emotion world. So wonderful a book, so classical a story, so prefect a happyending made it never a problem whether his pride or her prejudice counted, because of love, all can be neglected.

In the book once the proud Mr Dracy talked about the traits an accomplished woman must have, it needed a thorough knowledge of music, singing, dancing, drawing and modern languages, and besides this, a certain something in her manner of walking, in her voice and her behaviour. Whats more, something more solid, the improvement of her mind by wide reading. It could never be too strict for a common woman to follow.

About the attitudes to the marriage, Charles Dickens in the Oliver Twist also showed us the opinions of that day, he said if a man has ambitions to enter politics, then he marries a woman with a stain on her name, over though its not her fault, it might spoil his chances of success in his life.()The society is cruel, people might use the knowledge of his wifes doubtful birth against him, and against his children, too. And one day, he might begin to regret his marriage.

But love is so great that nothing can conquer it, and in the Pride and Prejudice we see the type of classical love, if we say in the realization we are so sorry to see the over more interest lead us to forget what love is, what a pity when love is not so pure as it should be, what a pity when love is used as a medium of exchange.

To my happiness the books inflected Miss Austens marriage view, it is wrong to get married for property, money and states. She objects to getting married for money and regarding the marriage as a trifling matter. She also points that the man and the womans emotion is the foundation of an ideal marriage.

After reading it, I feel that I just want to turn Elizabeth who is ordinary but with special beauty, brave but with a little stubborn, though she is not a prefect woman our eyes, she does be a woman with prefect disadvantages. To the hero Mr Dracy, I feel that I just want to marry a gentleman like Mr Dracy who always puts his love deep in his heart, till the day he made sure that Elizabeth was the one he wanted to spendthe rest time of the live. Under the handsome and gentle; proud and serious face, there was a kind heart full of love.

Pride is just like a piece of beautiful clothes which is luxurious and untouchable. However, the expense of pride is loneliness. Prejudice is just like the clouds floating in the sky with its freedom. However, the expense of prejudice is lost.

What I learntfromthe books and Jane Austen is dee* printed in my mind and I should never forget Elizabeth and Mr Dracys prefect love story, they usefully influenced each other. His mind might have been softened and his manners improved by her sociability, and she might have learntfromhis greater judgment and knowledge of the world. Just like a fairy tale, the price and princess have a happy live together, which I am looking forward.

Pride and Prejudice is a famous classic written by Jane Austen. I was attracted by the characters and plots of the film adapted from the novel.

Elizabeth is the *e of the story. When she meets Darcy, a handsome, rich but arrogant man, on the party for the first time, she is dissatisfied with the proud manner of Darcy. Darcy looks down on those who are in a lower social class,

including Elizabeth. However, after getting to know the courage, independence and confidence of Elizabeth, he almost falls in love with her. But Elizabeth believes the lies of Wickham which causes her great prejudice to Darcy. She rejects Darcy’s propose marriage to protect her self-respect. Finally, Darcy goes away because he couldn’t tolerate Elizabeth’s sisters’ vulgar manners. He writes a long letter to explain his thoughts and love to Elizabeth. After reading it, Elizabeth feels guilty about

misjudging Darcy and regrets turning him down. As time goes away, Darcy gradually improves his pride and keeps helping Elizabeth’s family out from troubles. At last, Elizabeth removes the prejudice to Darcy and accepts his propose marriage.

From the film I learn that we can’t judge a man immediately by the first impression. If we are controlled by our subjective senses, it will easy cause prejudice and

misunderstanding and probably influent the developments of many events. To avoid this situation, we need more communication to understand others dee* by ourselves.

Elizabeth resourcefulness, have courage, visionary, have very strong self-respect, and be good at thinking. It is because of this quality, just make her have independent opinion on the emotional problems, and prompted her and the darcy position content family.

Books as the name implies, pride and prejudice, and in the book is male leading the obstacle of the love, but in the real society is also a munication barriers between people, but also in the right attitude towards themselves, treat things in a stumbling block. In real life, we will also often because of his unilateral idea but myself with others, so we have to overe the "pride and prejudice", take the initiative to understand others. Each person actually are easy to be driven by their own subjective impression, and therefore easy to incorrect ment on other people, thus caused the misunderstanding between each other. A man give first impression is can affect many things, but not must not change, want to have a more in-depth understanding, in order to have a more objective point argument, just like the *e of the story of darcy"s view, is because understanding just change. The book reaction of social reality is so hit the nail on the head, she is about marriage, has nothing to do with love.

AS is known to all, Pride and Prejudice which was written by a famous English female writer Jane Austen is still a classic in English literature nowadays. Jane Austen who was born and lived her whole life in England wrote six books in her life time.

Her novels all described the lifestyle and social munications of families in the countries of England as what she is familiar with. The book Pride and Prejudice is the typical one that fully expressed Jane’s view on marriage and emphasized that the benefit on economic exerts a great influence on marriage.

The characters in the novel all had their own opinions on marriage. Mrs. Bennet, for instance, has only one aim-that of finding a good match for each of her five daughters.

As for Elizabeth, who is the second daughter in the Bennet family said that only deep love would persuade her to marry which was why she would probably end up an old maid. Lydia and Charlotte, however, were two extremes. The former just married for sex, while the latter married for a fortable home and protection.

There are just so many different characters that were all formed under the society of England in 18’s century. Then, there was filled with unfairness between men and women. Just as what Jane Austen said,”It is a truth universally knowledge, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife. ”

the novel opens with the famous line, "it is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife.". and ends with two marriages: jane and bingley#39;s, as well as darcy and elizabeth#39;s. both couples are assumed to live happily ever after.

elizabeth (lizzy) bennet is the core of the family. elizabeth is the second of mr. and mrs. bennet#39;s five daughters, and is an intelligent, bold, attractive twenty-year-old when the story begins. in addition to being her father#39;s favourite, elizabeth is characterized as a sensible, yet stubborn, woman. misled by his cold outward behaviour, elizabeth originally holds mr. darcy in contempt. however, she finds that mr. darcy improves on acquaintance, more so than she would expect.

fitzwilliam darcy (commonly known as mr. darcy) is the central male character and elizabeth#39;s second love interest in the novel. he is an intelligent, wealthy, extremely handsome and reserved 28-year-old man, who often appears haughty or proud to strangers but possesses an honest and kind nature underneath. initially, he considers elizabeth his social inferior, unworthy of his attention, but he finds that, despite his inclinations, he cannot deny his feelings for elizabeth. his initial proposal of marriage is rejected because of his pride and elizabeth#39;s prejudice against him; however, at the end of the novel, after their relationship has blossomed, he is happily engaged to a loving elizabeth.

role of women in the 18th century

in late-18th-century england, women were relegated to secondary roles in society with respect to property and social responsibilities. for example, women were not permitted to visit new arrivals to the neighbourhood (such as mr. bingley in pride and prejudice) until the male head of their household had first done so. women were under enormous pressure to marry for the purpose of securing their financial futures and making valuable social connections for their families. therefore, marriage, though romanticised, was in many ways a financial transaction and social alliance rather than a matter of love. although jane austen did not condone loveless marriages (she stayed single all her life), she did approve of matches having equality in various respects, including wealth, social status, love and character. in pride and prejudice, wealth, social status, chastity (and the perception of chastity) and physical attractiveness are depicted as factors affecting a woman#39;s chances for a good m

It is universally acknowledged that the eternal theme of Jane Austen’s novels is the choice people make for marriage partners, so is in Pride and Prejudice. Mrs. Bonnet had no other wish if her five daughters could get married as soon as possible with someone wealthy. At a dancing ball, it is obvious that Mr. Bingley could not help falling in love at the first sight with Miss Jane because of her stunning beauty. Mrs. Benne was so excited that she could not hold her manner and declared publicly she would ha一ve a daughter married soon, which frightened Mr. Bingley away. Mr. Collins, a distance nephew of Mr. Bennet, came to ask a marriage to one of his cousins before Mrs. Bennet was able to get clear why Mr. Bingley left suddenly. After receiving the hint from Mrs. Bennet that Jane already had an admirer, Mr. Collins turned to Elizabeth without wasting a minute and to Miss Charlotte Lucas two days later after refused by Elizabeth. It was difficult for Mrs. Bennet to recover herself as a result of the“deadly stupid” decision made by Elizabeth until she got the news that Lydia finally married Mr. Wickham, though the marriage was built on the basis of ten thousand pounds. Mr. Darcy offered the money and did everything departing from his will just because he loved Elizabeth so much. He could not hide his feelings any more and showed his affection to Elizabeth at last, who, because of a series of misunderstandings towards him, rejected him without hesitation. This plot is the climax of the novel as the prejudice of Elizabeth to Mr. Darcy was exposed and removed since then. And the combination of the two young couples, Jane and Bingley, Elizabeth and Darcy came at last.

(Actually she is a pedant.) Kitty doesn"t have her own opinion but likes to follow her sister, Lydia. Lydia is a girl who follows exotic things, handsome man, and is somehow a little profligate. When I read the book, I can always find the same personalities in the society now. That is why I think this book is indeed the representative of the society in Britain in the 18th century.

The family of gentleman in the countryside is Jane Austen"s favourite topic.

I couldn"t forget how eager Mrs. Bennet wants to marry off her daughters. If you want to know why she is so crazy about these things, I must mention the situation in Britain at that time. Only the eldest son had the privilege of inheriting his father"s possessions. Younger sons and daughters who are used to luxurious lives have no choice but marry a man or woman in possession of a large fortune to continue their fortable lives. Thus, we can see that getting married is a way to bee wealthier, particularly for women without many possessions. Jane Austen told us that money and possession determined everything, including marriage and love in her century.

In “Pride and Prejudice”, the sister of Mr. Bingley strongly opposed his plan of marrying Jane because the Bennets don"t have many possessions and their social positions are much lower than them. From this, we can see there are a lot of obstacles for a not very rich woman to marry a wealthy husband. The society, the relatives would not allow them to get married.

In modern society, although the marriages of economic needs have decreased rapidly, the concept of “money determines everything” is still rooted in some people"s mind. A lot of parents try hard to interfere their children"s marriages. Education background, possessions, jobs remains the main reason that may influence one"s marriage. Marry for money is still a big problem in our society. We can"t help thinking: can money determine everything?

Austen left this problem for us to think. The genius of Jane Austen lies in this perfect simplicity, the simplicity that reflects big problems. Although Austen was only 21 when she wrote “Pride and Prejudice”, her sharp observation of social lives makes the style of this book surprisingly mature and lively. The plots in her works are always very natural. The development of the plot is as inevitable as a problem in mathematics. I think the depth of Pride and Prejudice is the reason that makes this book prominent and classic. Today, her book still can be the guide telling us the economic relationships both at her time and in modern time.

I have read some parts of this nover when I was about thirteen years old,but the book was really too thick for me to read over patiently. It’s a pity that I haven’t finished it till now.But fortunately, I have watched the movie “Pride and Predudice”directed by an American film studio several months ago.

The simple but pure plot, the wonderful song, the classical custume, the luxury ball, the scene full of amorous feelings from the British country, the beatiful and stubborn actress, all of these moved me dee*.Mr. Darcy, the actor of the nover,a nobleman from the uper-classes in England, because of this , he has an inborn superiority that he looks down at every person from the lower-classes .

He don’t like neither their life style nor their way to think.Elizabeth, the actress of the nover,an obstinate, wise young girl from the lower-classes of the country. She dosen’t like anyone who is constumelious, she hates the spurs from the pride men. By these, you know, there’er lots of conflicts between them, but at last,Darcy and Elizabeth, the two different even opposite youngsters fall love .That’s very incredible.

In fact,we are always pride and think something in our mind but not right,we assess the others only depend on their background or their color of skin , we hide our true heart and pretend ,we dispise the others without any reason……But why don’t we ask ourselves in our heart or mind: what do we feel in fact? What do we need in fact? What do we hate and love in fact? Why not express our real feelings at once? Why not chase the happy we really want ?

If we can go through the hindrances that set by ourselves,if we can express the true feelings we have and say it out loudly and clearly to somebody we want to tell with, if we can give up the contumely and spurns which block us to get long well wigh the others wo love,if we can live together harmony and sincere, if ……If that day really es,the love will e too.

Film Review of Pride and Prejudice

Body:As we all know, if you know something about the author"s background, you will appreciate the book on a profounder and better level. The book first published in 1813, as Jane Austen’s second novel, she started it 1796 as her first persevering effort for publication. She finished the original manuscript by 1797 in Steventon, Hampshire, where she lived with her parents and siblings in the town rectory. Austen originally called the story First Impressions, but it was never published under that title; instead, she made extensive revisions to the manuscript, then retitled and eventually published it as Pride and Prejudice. Austen in this novel was full of wit and humor reflected the late eighteenth Century, early nineteenth Century British country customs and living ways of the world, to give the art of imagination.(writing background)

The book is mainly to tell the four couples’ marriages in eighteenth Century. One of the most important is naturally occurred between actress Elizabeth Bennet and actor Fitzwilliam Darcy about their hate and love. Elizabeth is a courageous, beautiful, smart, sturdy and lovable middle-class woman who pursues true love ignoring money and power. The story develops mainly relies on Elizabeth and Darcy, from the beginning of aversion to respect then love. Also, alternates in stories happen around Elizabeth’s happy or unhappy marriages to reveal the author’s hope living in true love at that era. The *e Elizabeth first saw the male protagonist Darcy is not pleasing to her eyes, plus Darcy’s pride character causes Elizabeth to have prejudice against him. Darcy is unpopular arrogant man, even in the surrounding filled up cold relationship. For him, pride may be rational, however; prejudice may be heartless, both of which impact is unavoidable. Between two people there are often quarries and misunderstandingsconcerning Darcy’s pride and Elizabeth’s prejudice at the start. But after the events of clarification, they develop a little affection gradually. Darcy represents the “pride”, Elizabeth represents “prejudice”. At first, they are all controlled by their bad emotions------“pride and prejudice”. Then a series of unfavorable rumors to Darcy make Elizabeth have a stronger objection to him. when Darcy proposes to Elizabeth but is rejected, he says:” If I play a little means, my inner contradictions disguised, blindly to compliment you, make you believe me both in the understanding, thinking and other aspects, is all for you with unconditional pure love, maybe you will not have these harsh scold. Unfortunately, no matter what kind of camouflage, I hate. ” Darcy has not changed his arrogant disposition in order to please Elizabeth, Elizabeth shows herself truly as well. Neither of them is deliberately to create good impressions, but is truly to show their inner sides. Elizabeth has been living in her own prejudice and ignored the truth, after Darcy’s interpretation and her judgment, finally found happiness.(Primary coverage)

Jane Austen said of Elizabeth Bennet:” I have to admit, I think she is the happiest and the very cheerful character in the book. Will I tolerate a person I don’t love like her? I really do not know.” Indeed, I agree that Elizabeth is the happiest one who is smart and wit, courage, long-sighted, strong self-esteem as well as good at thinking. As for Darcy, she seems to have some arbitrary bias. In this paper, the prejudice refers to the middle-class, well-educated and wit woman------Elizabeth’s mental weakness. And the so-called pride refers to a wealth, high-educated, sharp-eyed young man------Darcy’s personality weakness. The very pride and prejudice make their road to marriage twisted and turned. The hero and *e’s progress to marriage sometimes proceeds and sometimes draws back just like the gesture when they dance together. The first chapter in this novel, Darcy answers to his friend’s feeling towards Elizabeth says:” She is OK, but not charming enough to tempt me.And I am in no humor at present to give consequence to young ladies who are slighted by other men” Darcy’s contemptuous word makes Elizabeth very embarrassed, which becomes the topic in the next dance ball. However she can still be happy when she talks the matter to her friends. Judging from that, Elizabeth can be in her best spirits and capture laugh points in everything. As a matter of fact, Elizabeth is heavily prejudiced against Darcy in the next ball, in the meanwhile, people present in the ball give him a judge:” he is one of the most unpleasant and pride person in the world. All hope that he would not come here”. The hero and *e’s fate is only beginning at the party, it is the Elizabeth’s sister and Darcy’s friend Bingley’s love that indirectly promotes Darcy and Elizabeth feelings. They meet frequently at Bingley’s. Although the dialogs between them are often pride and prejudiced, Elizabeth’s natural characters make Darcy unable to control his affection to her. This also reflects Darcy’s gentleman side. The novel is fun and ups and downs, with Elizabeth’s prejudice toward Darcy grow day by day, the appearance of Gorge Wickham pushes the plot forwards. Gorge Wickham------ A dashing, handsome young soldier who attracts the attention of Elizabeth Bennet. His father was the manager of the Darcy estate, so he grew up with Mr. Darcy and his sister. Though he is cared well by Darcy"s father, there is bitter enmity between him and Darcy, due to his attempt to elope with Georgiana Darcy for her substantial inheritance. Wickham put all his mistakes to Darcy which further deepens Elizabeth’s prejudice against Darcy. This event occurs most probably because Elizabeth is too care about her image in the eyes of others. At Darcy’s first proposal to Elizabeth, she refuses and says:” From the beginning, from the first moment I saw you, you let me show a feel a self-conceited manner, your self-esteem, you don’t respect others’ feeling of egoistic. From my unhappiness with you based, after the accident, I feel you are the man I am not willing to marry to.” He is very polite to her refusal, come to resuce Elizabeth’s sister and urge Jane and Bingley’s marriage. Thereafter there seems to be the plot and character inversion. Elizabeth believes that Wickham is the most suitable for marriage, nearly ruined herself. It is Darcy’s patience and understanding to save her from the dangerous edge. Elizabeth really understands Darcy, admits his extreme prejudice.

Finally they clean up misunderstandings and get married. In the final *ysis, Elizabeth uses her own unique charm to win happiness.

As for Fitzwilliam Darcy, The son of a wealthy, well-established family and the master of the great estate of Pemberley, Darcy is Elizabeth’s male counterpart. The narrator relates Elizabeth’s point of view of events more often than Darcy’s, so Elizabeth often seems a more sympathetic figure. The reader eventually realizes, however, that Darcy is her ideal match. Intelligent and forthright, he too has a tendency to judge too hastily and harshly, and his high birth and wealth make him overly proud and overly conscious of his social status. Indeed, his haughtiness makes him initially bungle his courtship. When he proposes to her, for instance, he dwells more on how unsuitable a match she is than on her charms, beauty, or anything else complimentary. Her rejection of his advances builds a kind of humility in him. Darcy demonstrates his continued devotion to Elizabeth, in spite of his distaste for her low connections, when he rescues Lydia and the entire Bennet family from disgrace, and when he goes against the wishes of his haughty aunt, Lady Catherine de Bourgh, by continuing to pursue Elizabeth. Darcy proves himself worthy of Elizabeth, and she ends up repenting her earlier, overly harsh judgment of him.

Mr. Bennet ------ an English gentleman with an estate in Hertfordshire. He is married with five daughters, a circumstance injurious to his family. The terms of Mr. Bennet"s inheritance require a male heir. Because he has no son, upon his death, his property must go to his closest male relative, Mr. Collins, a clergyman who provides him with much amusement. Mr. Bennet, a gentle if eccentric man, is very close to his two eldest daughters, Jane and particularly Elizabeth. However, he has a poor opinion of the intelligence and sensibility of his wife and three youngest daughters, frequently declaring them "silly" and visiting them with insulting remarks as well as gentle teasing.

Mrs. Bennet ------ the querulous wife of Mr. Bennet. Her main concern in life is seeing her daughters married well. She angles for her new neighbor, Mr. Bingley, as a match for one of them. She also hopes for a match between one of her girls and Mr. Collins himself. (Analysis of major characters)

The first marriage------ a happy one (Darcy and Elizabeth).

The author reflects that only if a marriage experiences with suffers and setbacks, can it be happy.

The second marriage------ a romantic one (Jane and Bingley)

They fall in love with each other at first sight. This kind of marriage is full of romantic feature.

The third marriage------ a little bit sorrow but wise one (Charlotte and Collins) Charlotte is an ordinary-looking woman but she has her own opinion when it comes to marriage. As Elizabeth, she looks forward to truth love. Although she is no less beautiful than Elizabeth, she is lucky that she finds Collins who can offer her happiness, wealth and rights. As for Collins, he does not love Charlotte as well, but he just wants a woman to get married not knowing what happiness really is. But both of them can reach their goals by this marriage.

The last marriage------ a blindfold one (Lydia and Wickham)

This marriage seems to be a game without love. Lydia chooses Wickham who seems handsome but ugly in inner just to satisfy her vanity. As for Wickham, he just wants money so as to marry to Lydia. What a ridiculous and woeful marriage it is!(The marriages of four couples )

Love seems to be the perpetual theme all over the world. But actually what is love? For most girls in 20s, love may mean everything to them. They seek for love bravely no matter what difficulties they may face. In their eyes, love is pure or even holy. However, those are just an ideal situation in the real life; people tend to find a balance between love and property.

Pride and prejudice is Austen’s great work. Through the discussion of the different marriages and love, she demonstrates her concept about love and marriage: love and marriage is closely associated with property and society, however, love and marriage can not only be decided by the property and social status. An ideal marriage should be based on mutual affection, respect and the same interest. She rejects the marriage based only on wealth. Different people have different ideas upon marriage. By the description and discussion of the four marriages in the novel, we can see that Austen fully expresses her views on love and marriage. Only by appreciating the marriage founded on the basis of mutual understanding and true love, but also by satirizing the marriage founded on the basis of origin and desire. The marriage based on social position and money can’t bring happiness in life. Aimless marriage and love are unpractical.Everything goes wrong for poor couples. Marriage based on wealth is not a fault. At least, it can offer us a better condition of life. Property is not everything in the life but without it, we can do nothing. This is called reality. But if you only married for wealth, you sell your liberty. The rest of your life might be miserable, and your marriage will filled with endless bitterness.

Among those four kinds of marriage, I prefer to the first one. As far as I’m concerned, the meaning of living is to suffer from various kinds of sufferings and happiness. On the way of pursuing love, we must strengthen our conviction. Do not make a hasty decision just because of money and power, we should make attempts to search for true love. If the weakness of the other is fragrant and that can’t be changed, you should be decisive to give up. Of course, you should cherish the other, happiness needs to be managed. (My view on marriage and love)

The man treat GRE at event in one"s life with punishing, Demonstrate different attitudes to the love question of the marriage of young girl of the family origin of middle class of villages and towns, Thus reflected authors oneself;s marriage view: It is wrong to get married for the property, money and position; Get married and does not consider that above-mentioned factors are unwise too .

(Actually she is a pedant.) Kitty doesn’t have her own opinion but likes to follow her sister, Lydia. Lydia is a girl who follows exotic things, handsome man, and is somehow a little profligate. When I read the book, I can always find the same personalities in the society now. That is why I think this book is indeed the representative of the society in Britain in the 18th century.

The family of gentleman in the countryside is Jane Austen’s favourite topic.

I couldn’t forget how eager Mrs. Bennet wants to marry off her daughters. If you want to know why she is so crazy about these things, I must mention the situation in Britain at that time. Only the eldest son had the privilege of inheriting his father’s possessions.

Bingley strongly opposed his plan of marrying Jane because the Bennets don’t have many possessions and their social positions are much lower than them. From this, we can see there are a lot of obstacles for a not very rich woman to marry a wealthy husband. The society, the relatives would not allow them to get married.

In modern society, although the marriages of economic needs have decreased rapidly, the concept of “money determines everything” is still rooted in some people’s mind. A lot of parents try hard to interfere their children’s marriages. Education background, possessions, jobs remains the main reason that may influence one’s marriage. Marry for money is still a big problem in our society. We can’t help thinking: can money determine everything?

Austen left this problem for us to think. The genius of Jane Austen lies in this perfect simplicity, the simplicity that reflects big problems. Although Austen was only 21 when she wrote “Pride and Prejudice”, her sharp observation of social lives makes the style of this book surprisingly mature and lively. The plots in her works are always very natural. The development of the plot is as inevitable as a problem in mathematics. I think the depth of Pride and Prejudice is the reason that makes this book prominent and classic. Today, her book still can be the guide telling us the economic relationships both at her time and in modern time.

many people sim* regard pride and prejudice as a love story, but in my opinion, this book is an illustration of the society at that time. she perfectly reflected the relation between money and marriage at her time and gave the people in her works vivid characters.

the characters have their own personalities. mrs. bennet is a woman who makes great efforts to marry off her daughters. mr. bingley is a friendly young man, but his friend, mr. darcy, is a very proud man who seems to always feel superior. even the five daughters in bennet family are very different. jane is simple, innocent and never speaks evil of others. elizabeth is a clever girl who always has her own opinion. mary likes reading classic books. (actually she is a pedant.) kitty doesn’t have her own opinion but likes to follow her sister, lydia. lydia is a girl who follows exotic things, handsome man, and is somehow a little profligate. when i read the book, i can always find the same personalities in the society now. that is why i think this book is indeed the representative of the society in britain in the 18th century.

the family of gentleman in the countryside is jane austen’s favourite topic. but this little topic can reflect big problems. it concludes the stratum situation and economic relationships in britain in her century. you can find these from the very beginning of this book.

the first sentence in this book is impressive. it reads: “it is a truth well known to all the world that an unmarried man in possession of a large fortune must be in need of a wife”. the undertone is very clear: the foundation of the marriage at that time is not emotion but possession.

people always think that austen was an expert at telling love stories. in fact, the marriage in her book is not the result of love, but the result of economic needs. after reading this book, i know the truth is that a poor woman must be in need of a husband, a wealthy man.

i couldn’t forget how eager mrs. bennet wants to marry off her daughters. if you want to know why she is so crazy about these things, i must mention the situation in britain at that time. only the eldest son had the privilege of inheriting his father’s possessions. younger sons and daughters who are used to luxurious lives have no choice but marry a man or woman in possession of a large fortune to continue their comfortable lives. thus, we can see that getting married is a way to become wealthier, particularly for women without many possessions. jane austen told us that money and possession determined everything, including marriage and love in her century.

in “pride and prejudice”, the sister of mr. bingley strongly opposed his plan of marrying jane because the bennets don’t have many possessions and their social positions are much lower than them. from this, we can see there are a lot of obstacles for a not very rich woman to marry a wealthy husband. the society, the relatives would not allow them to get married.

in modern society, although the marriages of economic needs have decreased rapidly, the concept of “money determines everything” is still rooted in some people’s mind. a lot of parents try hard to interfere their children’s marriages. education background, possessions, jobs remains the main reason that may influence one’s marriage. marry for money is still a big problem in our society. we can’t help thinking: can money determine everything?

austen left this problem for us to think. the genius of jane austen lies in this perfect simplicity, the simplicity that reflects big problems. although austen was only 21 when she wrote “pride and prejudice”, her sharp observation of social lives makes the style of this book surprisingly mature and lively. the plots in her works are always very natural. the development of the plot is as inevitable as a problem in mathematics. i think the depth of pride and prejudice is the reason that makes this book prominent and classic. today, her book still can be the guide telling us the economic relationships both at her time and in modern time.

MISS AUSTEN never attempts to describe a scene or a class of society with which she was not herself thoroughly acquainted. The conversations of ladies with ladies, or of ladies and gentlemen together, are given, but no instance occurs of a scene in which men only are present.

The uniform quality of her work is one most remarkable point to be observed in it. Let a volume be opened at any place: there is the same good English, the same refined style, the same simplicity and truth. There is never any deviation into the unnatural or exaggerated; and how worthy of all love and respect is the finely disciplined genius which rejects the forcible but transient modes of stimulating interest which can so easily be employed when desired, and which knows how to trust to the never-failing principles of human nature! This very trust has sometimes been made an objection to Miss Austen, and she has been accused of writing dull stories about ordinary people. But her supposed ordinary people are really not such very ordinary people.

Let anyone who is inclined to criticise on this score endeavor to construct one character from among the ordinary people of his own acquaintance that shall be capable of interesting any reader for ten minutes. It will then be found how great has been the discrimination of Miss Austen in the selection of her characters, and how skillful is her treatment in the management of them. It is true that the events are for the most part those of daily life, and the feelings are those connected with the usual joys and griefs of familiar existence; but these are the very events and feelings upon which the happiness or misery of most of us depends; and the field which embraces them, to the exclusion of the wonderful, the sentimental, and the historical, is surely large enough, as it certainly admits of the most profitable cultivation.

In the end, too, the novel of daily real life is that of which we are least apt to weary: a round of fancy balls would tire the most vigorous admirers of variety in costume, and the return to plain clothes would be hailed with greater delight than their occasional relinquishment ever gives. Miss Austen"s personages are always in plain clothes, but no two suits are alike: all are worn with their appropriate differen AS we should expect from such a life, Jane Austen"s view of the world is genial, kindly, and, we repeat, free from anything like cynicism. It is that of a clear-sighted and somewhat satirical onlooker, loving what deserves love, and amusing herself with the foibles, the self-deceptions, the affectations of humanity. Refined almost to fastidiousness, she is hard upon vulgarity; not, however, on good-natured vulgarity, such as that of Mrs. Jennings in "Sense and Sensibility," but on vulgarity like that of Miss Steele, in the same novel, combined at once with effrontery and with meanness of soul.

Austin"s "pride and prejudice", as she puts it, is thin on two inches of ivory carving, it is the masterpiece of Austin. Reflect the marriage problems of novel is a, the author works in the most is her favorite works.

One distinctive characters in "her" lifelike; Clever sensible Elizabeth, sincerity, persistence, darcy, gentle tolerant Jane, frivolous superficial Lydia, no mind, Mrs Bennett relatively ineffective Mr Bennett, selfish snobbish miss bingley, mighty lady Catherine, boring Collins, and so on. Among them, admirable, sympathetic, or a smile. In addition, the dialogue between the characters in the novel is also a feature of the novel. Elizabeth witty words, Mr Bennett its sarcasm to him, for the khan"s rhetoric, Collins rap wording, which make readers view. Do you know of who "she" is? "She" is the author -- Jane Austen.

The book was welcomed by generations of readers, and love. "Pride and prejudice", published in 1813, a love story is novel, the novel of the communist party of China involves four marriage, but each have each characteristic.

In a word, no matter from content and Austin"s novel narrative techniques, "pride and prejudice" is a classic.

Pride and Prejudice is a novel written by the famous English writer, Jane Austen, who was the sixth children in a family of seven and was born in the village of steventon in Hampshire in 1775 and died of Addison’s disease in 1817. The book first published on 28 January 1813 by the bookseller Thomas Egerton who had also published Sense and Sensibility, the original version of the novel was written in 1796-1797 under the title First Impressions .

Pride and Prejudice is a love story, mainly tells the love between Elizabeth and Darcy. It divided into 2 volumes and is composed of 42 chapters altogether. The major characters are Mr. Darcy, A rich and proud young man. Elizabeth, the second eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bennet. Mr. Bingley , A rich young bachelor. Jane, the first daughter of Mr. and Mrs.Bennet. The story begin with Bingley’s arrival. One day when Mrs.Bennet hear Bingley has taken Netherfield, a house near her’s. She is so happy and arranged one of her five daughters marriage with him. At a ball, luckly, Bingley and Jane fall in love at the first sight. Darcy, a friend of Bingley’s , was attracted to Elizabeth, a lively and spirited girl. But Darcy greatly offends her by his supercilious behavior and this dislike is increased by Wickham, a dashing young militia officer of the unjust treatment he has met with at Darcy"s hands.

One day when Darcy and Bingley’s two sisters disgusted with the vulgarity of Mrs. Bennet and her two youngest daughters, effectively separated Bingley and Jane. Meanwhile, Collins, a cousin of Mr. and Mrs. Bennet, married charlotte, a friend of Elizabeth’s, for Elizabeth’s refuse to marry him. But One day Darcy send Elizabeth a letter, in which he justifies the separation of his friend Bingley and Jane and make it clear that Wickham is. So Elizabeth changed her opinions and ideas toward him. Once when Elizabeth visited her uncle and aunt in the north of England, she met Darcy there and witnessed his changes through series of behaviors, no longer pride and become gentle and attentive, all these made their marriage arranged, and they also suitably provided for Bingley and Jane’s reunited and engaged. The story ends with both their happy marriages.

My point of view towards the masterpiece of Jane Austen’s is that this novel reflects the English human sentiment of the end of 18th century and the early of 19th century under the circumstance of conservative, and tells us the difference ways and attitudes to marriage of Mr. and Mrs. Bennet’s five daughters’. Thereby reveal the author herself attitude towards marriage, that is love and marriage based on money, property and social status is not perfect, but it is also stupid Without considering all of these. There, the author emphasize the importance of ideal marriage, meanwhile, to be opposed to love & marriage based on money or property and to be opposed to people’s laugh love & marriage off.

The author takes the affection/love as the cornerstone of ideal marriage between male and female. Elizabeth as the leading character in this novel, was born in the family of squireen’s, and is loved by Darcy. Darcy propose marriage to her in spite of difference in the possession of property and social status, but is refused byElizabeth for his pride , the novel demonstrate that if the pride of Darcy’s existed , there will be no love and also happy marriage between Elizabeth and he, it is really nice that Elizabeth witness the changes of Darcy’s through series of behavior in the following days.

Viewing that he is no longer pride and then eliminating her prejudice to him, finally engaged with him and leading a happy marriage. The author described that female is in pursuit of independent personality and equal right through several different attitudes of Elizabeth for Darcy’s propose marriage. Meanwhile, demonstrate Elizabeth’s independent understanding for a happy marriage. In this article, the writer described several unperfect marriages of Elizabeth’s sisters and close friends, aimed at making a sharp contrast with Elizabeth’s beatific marriage and revealed that marriage without love but base on social status and property actually is a kind of public tragedies. Humorous, ironical, polished language and real storyline is also occurred in this article.

As is known to all, Pride and Prejudice which was written by a famous English female writer Jane Austen is still a classic in English literature nowadays. Jane Austen who was born and lived her whole life in England wrote six books in her life time.

Her novels all described the lifestyle and social communications of families in the countries of England as what she is familiar with.

The former just married for sex, while the latter married for a comfortable home and protection.

There are just so many different characters that were all formed under the society of England in 18’s century. Then, there was filled with unfairness between men and women. Just as what Jane Austen said,”It is a truth universally knowledge, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife. ”
